Alongside the 2DS announcement today, Nintendo has also revealed a price cut to the deluxe version of the Wii U. Both the 8GB basic (white) edition and the 32GB (black) deluxe edition of the Wii U will be priced at $299.

Adding on to this news, if you’re already a Wii U owner and a big Zelda fan, it was also announced that The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will first launch digitally on Nintendo’s eShop on September 20th with the boxed retail version coming on October 4th. However, for those who have been waiting on the Wii U price cut, the Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle will include a download of the game and still cost the same as the newly priced deluxe version, $299.

A Wii U price cut, a new Wii U bundle, a new DS family member; man, Nintendo really came out of left field today didn’t they? I believe a price cut was immanent for the Wii U, and while this year will be a tough one for them console wise, 2014 may be the year of Nintendo with their big hitters being released throughout that year. This is probably the first step in getting back into the console race but luckily they own the handheld market with the 3DS.

Update: The Wind Waker HD Wii U bundle will be coming out in October as a GameStop exclusive. Aside the 32GB black Wii U, the GamePad will also sport a unique design to celebrate the Wind Waker HD release. You can pre-order it now at your local GameStop or online at GameStop.com.
