Rockstar has finally announced the first batch of add-on content for Grand Theft Auto Online after much turmoil and what might possibly be considered a “fiasco” during launch. Starting early November, the free Beach Bum pack download will add new weapons and beach-themed vehicles that players will be able to use in both GTA Online and GTA V’s Story mode. The update will also come with much of the DLC that Rockstar Games promised during the pre-launch phase of the game, like new tattoos and hairstyles, as well as new Jobs including Gang Attacks, Survivals, Last Team Standings, Parachutes, Deathmatches and Races, all taking place on the beaches and coastal areas of Los Santos and Blaine County.
To further please the GTA Online community, Rockstar has also announced Social Club Events Weekends, where special rewards and bonuses will be available for GTA Online. These events will range from limited-edition in-game Event Crate Drops to in-game discount specials. A new developer-hosted live-stream will also be started, offering prize pack giveaways. We see this to be something along the lines of Twitch or Ustream.
Finally, the Content Creator for custom-made Races and Deathmatches will be going live starting November. Rockstar plans to keep an eye on exceptional creations and feature them on the Rockstar Newswire, as well as add a ‘Rockstar Verified’ stamp to them in-game. Make great mission, or job, and it will be featured and verified by Rockstar for everyone to come see and play. As is the case with the Beach Bum pack, the Content Creator is also a free download. As far as the $500,000 stimulus package that was announced to players having gone through the slow launch, Rockstar did announce a delay in payment, and no word has been said yet about the ETA of the package.
